Hatching blastocyst twins involves the emergence of two embryos from a single fertilized egg. Through a naturally occurring process, the blastocyst, a ball of cells, escapes its outer shell to implant in the uterine lining. This phenomenon can result in the formation of either monozygotic (identical) or dizygotic (fraternal) twins. Assisted reproductive technologies, such as PGD and IVF, can increase the likelihood of conceiving twins by selecting and transferring multiple embryos.
