Wind Scorpions: Venom-Free Insects With Irritating Hairs

Wind scorpions, despite their name, do not possess venomous glands or a stinger. Their primary defense mechanism involves venomous hairs that can cause skin irritation upon contact. Unlike true scorpions, wind scorpions’ bites, while painful due to their sharp pincers, are not poisonous. The absence of venom distinguishes wind scorpions from their venomous counterparts, such as spiders and true scorpions, making them harmless to humans.
